The Espejismos compilation may be regarded as a sort of patchwork of tracks, where the "old" tracks are effectively sewn together by the new tracks acting as a thread. Fans will recognise single tracks from the old albums. Nevertheless the different approach or the re-arrangement of the old tracks coupled with the impression induced by the new combination of songs as a whole, somehow act as a fascinating experience. The result sounds like a new, resuming album sweeping through the history of the band driven by inspiration and not by time constraints. Which fits in the Matus character, I guess...

Don Juan Matus ha establecido una trayectoria algo atípica para nuestro medio. No se le conocen presentaciones en vivo, pero edita material desde el 2007 desoyendo tendencias en boga y sin mirar las rutas trazadas por un supuesto 'mainstream' local. El único resorte que parece impulsarlos - como debe ser - es el hacer música por el gusto de hacerla. Es la única explicación que encuentro para la existencia de una banda que apuesta por la mística, por una policromía estética que desnuda influencias de bandas más bien sesenteras y setenteras: rock pesado, folk, psicodelia...

Richard Nossar, Manuel Garfias, Veronik, Alex Rojas y Alfonso Vargas nos conducen por montañas, por senderos de tierra y por caminos bordeados de vegetación, pero siempre con punto de llegada a espacios cavernosos (hay una presencia importante y definitiva de elementos oscuros desde los cuales se desprenden los demás ramajes que constituyen el carácter de la banda).
